Laser line and the marker at kยทG: what the forge is doing nowThe photo on the turntable: its scanned width sets a, its height sets bYour photo lies on the turntable under a laser line scanner. The scan sets the curve yยฒ = xยณ + ax + b on the display, with a from the silhouette's width and b from its height. Each crank turn adds the generator G once more, so the marker walks to kยทG by chord and reflection. The printer takes the photo's pixels, fresh randomness from your browser and the crank count k, hashes them into an Ed25519 seed, and prints the first 16 hex digits of the resulting SSH public key. Each k is a different key from the same potato.
